ii) ERS Education (School products)
There is an increasing burden being placed on schools from the traditional role of providing education and extra curricula activities to accepting liability as a caregiver to scholars. The ever changing societies’ demands on families has transferred many “parental” responsibilities to educators.
Emergency medical services is an area that every school needs to have access to. Teachers, proficient and qualified in first aid, are simply not enough to deal with the complexities of injuries and trauma situations that many schools face. Call centres linked to emergency service providers offering national coverage that can service schools with fast response times is a necessity.
By offering the call centre facility to all pupils and staff, the school is proactively managing its liability and exposure risk. Not all pupils have access to medical aid cover that would provide the necessary emergency services.
AAR have realised the dilemma that schools face in providing first class medical emergency services to its staff and pupils. The dilemma may be cost, service or location related. AAR are able to provide these services to schools at very low cost; excellent service delivery that is offered nationally.
By using the call centre, ERS market research showed that a pure medical service was not adequate in meeting the schools needs. Guaranteed hospital admission, no financial excesses or constraints, trauma counseling (including face to face counseling), HIV information were some of the schools requirements. The call centre is key to offering a wider service other than medical.
AAR has responded to these needs by meeting the requirements and offering a wide range of services through a central point.
* Trauma counseling,
* Accidental treatment
* Health Rescue insurance when on official trips
* Accidental Hospitalisation
* Within the school compound service.
* Sports medical coverages
Not only will the school be managing its liability and risk exposure as far as medical services are concerned, it also offers parents the comfort that the school has taken proactive measures for the child in key services that would benefit and assist the parent in dealing with important matters such as after hour tutoring.
So what does the service cost is the obvious question? For as little as Kshs 650 per child per annum, these services are available. “For such a low barrier of entry, the cost value proposition must make this product and service offering compulsory for all schools to have.
The benefits to school, pupils and parents are enormous. Good governance in liability and value offerings in an ever changing environment must surely be a focus of all schools today to keep up with the pace of change” says Jagi Gakunju, CEO of AAR Holdings.
